The yoga teacher and postpartum doula who will save your sanity, at your service.

WHo Am I? Read on:

As a postpartum doula, I believe that postpartum is forever and supporting birthing individuals along that journey is an important and sacred responsibility. I collaborate with birthing people and their partner (if they have one) to create a relationship where they feel heard and supported. I bring understanding, care, and a dash of humor to this very transformative experience of becoming a parent.

Before becoming a full-time postpartum doula and yoga teacher, I worked in the fashion industry for 13 years. But I always felt like I wanted to be of service in and give back to my community in a more meaningful way. After giving birth to my daughter, Frances, in June of 2020 I felt very isolated. I didn’t have the support I wanted as a first-time parent during the pandemic. So, I knew it was time to return to my roots in Psychology and Social Work.

Currently, I am completing my Postpartum Doula Certification through Whole Body Pregnancy, LLC. My approach to birthwork is inclusive and anti-racist. I identify as a queer woman and I offer sliding scale fees for birthing people from marginalized communities. I have also trained in infant CPR/safety, infant feeding, and lactation support through Birth Day Presence.

I teach Yoga at Everyone Yoga in Ridgewood and Kid’s Yoga at Brooklyn Flow in Park Slope. I live with my middle-aged husband, my three-year-old daughter, and my teenage dog in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

The Ross Approach

You are a Whole Person

As a postpartum doula and yoga teacher, I understand that you're not just defined by your role as a parent. You're a complex individual with a range of emotions and experiences. My goal is to honor all aspects of who you are and make this journey into parenthood a joyful one.

Empathy, Always

Hello, I’m your compassion companion. I offer support and understanding without judgment. Whether you're navigating the ups and downs of new parenthood or just need someone to laugh at the absurdity of life with, I'm your gal. My goal is to create a space where everyone feels valued, heard, and respected.

Authenticity, Authenticity, AuthenticIty

Parenthood can be messy and unpredictable, but that's what makes it beautiful. In my work, I show up as my authentic self so that you can feel inspired and empowered to show up as your authentic self too.

How we Can Work Together

  • So you’ve decided you need an extra pair of hands while you’re adjusting to your new baby – wonderful! Here’s how I can help as your postpartum doula:

Prenatal planning session(s), Infant feeding and lactation support, education on infant care, soothing, and development, childcare, active listening, light housekeeping, running errands, organizing the nursery, grocery shopping, light food prep, emotional and physical recovery
support, light pet care, referals to resources that help you, your family, and your baby thrive and be well.

  • Parenthood is magical and intense and can also be very isolating. This group developed from the question, why do parenting groups often stop after the 4th trimester? There are so many phases of childhood and parenthood and we need community and support every step of the way. This group hopes to provide the space and time to come together with other parents to get and receive that support. No matter where we are in your parenting journey, we have something to offer and something to learn from one another.

KIND WORDS ABOUT MY WORK

“Ross took care of my mind, body and spirit, and even made me laugh too. She knew how to read the room, and gave me space and time to unpack my birth experience with her. She was always two steps ahead with food, folded laundry, or whatever else I needed to prioritize my personal and physical healing. I wish I had her for my two previous births.”

-Jeanette

“Ross is An Icon. I love Her Yoga Class-Comedy Routine.”

-JO

“I had an amazing experience with Ross. As soon as she walked in my door, I could feel her warm and calm energy. She brought me delicious homemade food and even showed me how to make it myself. She also did a yoga breath work practice with me that helped me relax and stretch out all the muscle tension I had from holding and rocking my baby. In the short time she was with me, it completely changed the trajectory of my week and she helped remind that I am doing a great job as a mother, which I really needed to hear.”
